Remember the times when visiting a traditional bank branch was necessary to make payments or transfers to a specific account? The frustration of having a pending utility bill and being unable to pay because all the offices were closed?

Fortunately, those situations are now history. Online banking has revolutionized the process, allowing uninterrupted transfers even during this festive season. Today, we will explain how to do it with Blackcatcard.

Understanding European Banks' Operations

As Christmas and New Year's Eve approach, many individuals and businesses are gearing up for celebrations while keeping an eye on their financial transactions. Understanding the importance of uninterrupted banking services during this festive period is crucial, especially when it comes to interbank transfers.

Referring to European countries such as France, Spain, Italy, and Germany, it's evident that holiday traditions are deeply cherished. However, the world does not stand still, reliable and fast banking solutions are paramount.

Traditional banks often operate on limited schedules during the holiday season, causing delays and inconveniences for those reliant on timely interbank transfers.

Germany, for instance, stands as a notable example. Residents are well aware that public holidays are highly respected, even by law. For example, all Sundays are recognized as days of rest, leading to the closure of all banks and almost all stores. Consequently, during holidays like the upcoming ones –Christmas Day on December 25th, the Second Day of Christmas on December 26th and January 1st– banks in Germany remain closed.

In France, Christmas Day and New Year's Day are widely celebrated public holidays, embraced with fervor nationwide. Moreover, in some locations within France, the Second Day of Christmas, also known as Boxing Day, is observed. During these holidays, banks are not open, so banking services may be limited.

Italy shares similarities with France, celebrating December 25th and January 1st as public holidays. Additionally, they observe the Second Day of Christmas, known there as St. Stephen's Day. Therefore, banks are also closed on these days.

Spain, like its neighboring countries, commemorates Christmas Day, due to its predominantly Catholic population, and New Year's Day as national holidays with fervor. In such regions as Catalonia, St. Stephen's Day is also observed as a public holiday. The banks do not work on these holidays either, limiting access to their services.

Many traditional banks have developed solutions allowing customers to use online banking services without the need to visit branches. However, since they do not specialize in this type of products, their online banking may not always work flawlessly or might be underdeveloped.

This is where one might find intrabank transfers quite useful. These are types of funds transfers that occur between clients of the same bank and therefore happen instantly, regardless of external factors such as date and time. And, of course, they cannot totally replace interbank, or external transfers, but are still a major relief in many financially urgent situations.
